Sedation – Dental Phobia; Overcome Your Fear
Both Dr McLelland and Dr Brookshaw have advanced training in sedation techniques and can offer IV sedation allowing treatment to patients that may otherwise avoid coming to the dentist. This will allow us to perform a full range of treatments on nervous patients allowing you to overcome your dental fear. Both are members of The Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry (SAAD) is a dental charity dedicated to the advancement of knowledge in pain and anxiety control for dentistry.
For more information please visit the SAAD website.
IV sedation involves placing a small cannula in your hand or arm and using a sleeping drug (Midazolam) to reduce anxiety and make you very relaxed. You will be awake but will not remember anything about the visit but will still be able to co-operate with the dentist. It is not a general anaesthetic so you will be recovered enough to leave the clinic shortly after the appointment.
