How long does a hygienist appointment last?
30-60 minutes depending on individual needs.
Will it be painful?
Sensitivity during treatment is rarely reported with new techniques. Our hygienists are skilled in working with anxious and nervous patients who may need extra reassurance.
How much does a dental hygiene appointment cost?
The cost is £65.00 per 30mins for routine appointments. Specialist periodontal treatment charges may be more. However, all treatment costs will be quoted in advance of appointment for your approval.
What can I do to help the hygienist?
At your first appointment, if you can bring along all of the brushes, flosses, toothpaste and/or mouthwash which you use regularly, this will help the hygienist to assess whether changes to your current routine would benefit you.
After your appointment, demonstrating the techniques which have been shown to you when cleaning at home, will improve your oral health and the hygienist will be able to detect these improvements at your next visit.
Can children see the hygienist?
Yes, your children should see our hygienists. They often benefit from “one-to-one”, friendly toothbrushing demonstrations instilling good techniques which will last a lifetime. The hygienist will also give advice with regards to sugars consumption and specific advice to help to prevent tooth decay.
Fissure sealants are sometimes applied to the chewing surface of children’s new adult teeth as they come through in order to prevent tooth decay developing. This is a quick, easy, painless and extremely successful procedure.
